Intermec Technologies has been selected by Schwan's Consumer Brands North America, a division of The Schwan Food Company, to provide handheld computers to automate pre-sales and direct store delivery activities for 1,200 routes in North America.

Schwan pre-sales personnel will use Intermec 740 Color mobile computers to accept sales orders, review up-to-date pricing and promotions with customers, and view customer sales history. The company's DSD drivers will use 740s to view delivery instructions, exchange data with in-store DEX systems and transact settlement at the customer site.

About the Intermec 700 Series

Intermec's 700 and 700 Color Series of rugged Pocket PCs have been approved for operation on AT&T's GSM/GPRS network. Designed to withstand daily use in harsh environments, the 700 Series have large color displays and an Intel 400 MHz XScale processor. The 700 Color offers an imager, suitable for reading barcodes (including 2D symbologies), taking photographs and capturing signatures. In addition, it can integrate up to three wireless communication options, including a Wi-Fi (802.11b) radio, a GSM/GPRS wide area network radio and a Bluetooth radio.
