U.K. based O2 is offering a system software upgrade for its xda Pocket PC phone. The xda does not run Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system, but rather a modified version of the standard Pocket PC OS.

According to O2, benefits of the upgrade include:
• Faster Internet access. Web surfing speeds increased by up to 33%.
• An option for the GPRS call to be 'always on' even when the xda goes into power save mode.
• Enhanced SIM management so that SIM entries are loaded into 'Contacts' as 'mobile' numbers, meaning texts can be sent straight from your contacts list.
• An ISDN WAP capability for faster WAP access.

xda users can obtain the system upgrade at the O2 website.
