SoftMaker's TextMaker for Pocket PCs ($50), a word processor, has been updated to support two handwriting recognition solutions, one from Microsoft and the other from Phatware.

According to the company, the word processor can now work with Microsoft's Transcriber, the handwriting recognition engine that comes with the Pocket PC operating system, and Phatware's CalliGrapher, a third party solution. As a result, TextMaker can now accept plain text input from both solutions, and supports all editing and formatting gestures in the applications.

The update is free to current users.
