Handango provides ecommerce and application provisioning services to more than 300 ISVs (Independent Software Developers) through the Handango Commerce Engine.

This week, it is launching a new promotion valid during the PalmSource Developers Conference or until February 12. With the promotion, Handango Palm OS software partners can exclusively offer their applications through Handango only for one year and retain 80% of software sales, up from 70%. In addition, software partners who sign up will receive additional marketing opportunities to promote exclusivity.

It looks like after the year is up, the developers are free to offer their wares through other venues, as Handango isn't the only game in town. PalmGear in particular is a major player when it comes to developers offering their applications to the public.

There are some potential advantages to the Handango promotion however. Every major Palm OS device manufacturer that offers a download portal uses Handango's application management and provisioning platform, Handango AMPP. Furthermore, wireless carriers that offer Palm OS smartphones in their portfolio, such as Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile USA and Orange, also use Handango AMPP to power their software and digital content stores.

According to Handango, it also delivers applications in more than 100 countries, 11 languages and dozens of currencies.
