Hoping to better tap into the market for the largest category of smartphones, Mobility Electronics this week demonstrated its up coming mobile office suite, iGo Quickoffice Premier Series 60, at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France.
The Quickoffice Premier Series 60 suite is based on iGo Quickoffice Premier for the Palm OS, one of the best mobile office applications for that platform. With Quickoffice Premier, users of Symbian OS-based Series 60 smartphones will be able to open, view and edit native Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents from email attachments, multimedia message attachments, and native Microsoft Office files saved on removable memory expansion cards.
According to Mobility Electronics, features include the full Quickword word processor with fonts, formatting, justification, bold, italics, underline, and other standard editing tools; the Quickoffice Premier spreadsheet, Quicksheet, with multiple sheet workbooks, more than 70 functions, formatting, justification, bold, italics, underline, and advanced features such as column resizing; as well as the Quickoffice Premier presentation application, Quickpoint, with the ability to open, view, and edit PowerPoint files, and give presentations directly from the smartphone.
Individual components of Quickoffice Premier are already available, including Quickword S60 for $14.95 and Quickpoint S60 for $19.95. Pricing for the new office suite and the date of availability hasn't been announced yet. Quickoffice Premier is already available for Symbian devices that run the UIQ interface, such as the Sony Ericsson P900 and P800 smartphones for $39.95.
