ACCESS has made available version 3.1 of its NetFront browser for Nokia Series 60 smartphones, which are based on the Symbian operating system. NetFront for Series 60 is one of the most widely deployed embedded browsers.

According to ACCESS, NetFront v3.1 for Nokia Series 60 provides Smart-Fit Rendering, a technology that intelligently renders Web pages to fit handset screen widths, eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling. NetFront also includes Rapid-Render, a new technology that the company claims significantly speeds the rendering of Web pages on mobile devices.

NetFront offers support for the latest Internet standards, including HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.1, cHTML, CSS, SSL and ECMA Script (JavaScript 1.5). In addition, NetFront v3.1 for Nokia Series 60 provides support for user defined shortcuts, configurable caching options, customizable style sheets and downloading of images and files.

Series 60 smartphones include Nokia 3650/3600, Nokia 3660/3620, Nokia 6600, Siemens SX1, Samsung D700, Nokia 7650, Sendo X, and Nokia N-Gage devices.
