Wouldn't it be cool if you were stuck at an airport and were bored with the games on you mobile phone, getting a new game and installing it on your device would be as easy as buying a candy bar or soda and consuming it? Well that's exactly what nReach, a subsidiary of SmartServ Online and a provider of mobile content, is working with Merit Industries to offer with the introduction of a self-serve mobile content vending machine. Merit is a company that specializes in touch-screen entertainment devices. According to the companies, some existing 6,000 Merit's touchscreen-based machines are capable of delivering nReach's mobile content, including ringtones and games. Some of the licensed content on the vending machines will include ringtones from American Idol, The Matrix, Eminem, Britney Spears, 50 Cent, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, 2Pac, Snoop Dogg and Frank Sinatra; images from MAXIM and Corbis, and games, such as Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, NHL Power Shot Hockey, Spiderman, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Charlie's Angels, Q*Bert, and Rayman. The nReach mobile content vending machines will also allow mobile phone users to sample content before it is purchased. Once the user has completed the purchase, the product is sent instantly, over-the-air, to their mobile phone.
nReach intends to locate its mobile content vending machines at wireless retailers, airports, train stations, restaurants and electronics stores.
