By James Miller
Good Technology's' GoodLink wireless messaging and data access system, optimized for the palmOne's Treo 600 smartphone, has received the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 certification, clearing the way for the company to sell the combined solution to government agencies. Administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), FIPS certification is required for any company looking to deploy wireless messaging products and services to government customers. The GoodLink messaging system features a two-way, wirelessly synchronized connection to Microsoft Exchange Server (enterprise email, contacts, calendar, notes and tasks) providing Outlook connectivity as well as access to other data applications, such as CRM, ERP and SCM, from a mobile device. With FIPS certification complete, Good Technology said it would market the combined messaging solution through its direct sales channels, government VARs and resellers. GoodLink currently supports the Treo 600 smartphone running on AT&T Wireless and Sprint PCS, and Good co-sells the system with the carriers. More on GoodLink GoodLink incorporates VeriSign triple-DES end-to-end encryption of all email, data and attachments in Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, HTML, PDF and RTF file formats. The GoodLink system includes synchronizing server software, security and application software for managing multiple networks, platforms and a variety of devices, including the Good G100, Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC devices, and, of course, the Treo 600..
