Sybase Launches LPGA Avantgo Channel

Sybase has launched a new AvantGo channel for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) to deliver golf tournament news updates, schedules, course information and player statistics to PDAs and smartphones.

This new channel provides mobile access to LPGA.com is available to members of the free AvantGo mobile internet service. In addition, attendees and players at LPGA events can access the channel wirelessly free-of-charge using Sybase and Intel-sponsored hot spots located at the tournaments.

"Golf fans are a fairly technically savvy group and are always looking for the latest and greatest way to track their favorite sport," said Karen Durkin, vice president of marketing for the LPGA. "AvantGo is a perfect fit for our fans, enabling golf lovers near and far to stay up-to-date on tournament activities, player stats and more."
