Local and state Massachusetts law enforcement agencies are using BIO-key International's PocketCop to provide handheld-based security for the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
PocketCop software operating on wireless Pocket PCs or laptop computers aims to provide first responders and security officials in the field with the same tactical information that previously could only be accessed in police stations or command centers. With PocketCop, patrolling security officers at the Democratic National Convention have real-time access to driver license information, including driver photographs, vehicle registration, stolen vehicle information, weapon registrations, wants and warrant information and access to local, state, county and federal criminal databases.
PocketCop has been implemented in more than 70 cities and towns in Massachusetts and is being used by Massachusetts State Police, Logan Airport Police and The Boston Police Department. PocketCop has also been implemented in regional networks in the Boston metropolitan area, including the seven cites that contiguously border Boston Harbor.
