By James Alan Miller MobiMate's WorldMate is the Swiss Army Knife of mobile travel software. It delivers time, weather, currency conversion, and graphical day/night maps for countries and cities around the world…as well as flight schedules. For Pocket PC enthusiasts, however, WorldMate lacked an important tool: flight status information. So you could find out what time a flight was supposed to leave, for example, but not if the plane was on time or not. That's no longer the case.
MobiMate has finally added a flight status service—courtesy of OAG (Official Airline Guides)—to WorldMate Professional Edition for Pocket PC.
Unfortunately, OAG's flight status service costs extra, as it is a first of its kind pay-per-use service. You see, when you purchase WorldMate Professional Edition for $69.95, you get a one-year subscription to its premium online services, which offer, for example, up-to-the-minute weather, currency conversion and flight schedule information. Flight status data is another story—it requires tokens, which go for $4.95 for thirty. One token buys you a single flight lookup. The company estimates you'll need one or two tokens per flight, depending on how nervous you are about missing your plane.
