By James Alan Miller First available in Europe from mobile operator Orange as the SPV C500, the tri-band (GSM 850/1800/1900) SMT 5600 measures a mere 4.25 x 1.8 x 0.6 inches and weighs a measly 3.6 ounces. Other features include a 200 MHz Texas Instruments OMAP processor, 32 MB of RAM, 64 MB of ROM, Bluetooth, a minSD slot for additional memory up to 512 MB, and a 2.2-inch display that supports a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. It also has a VGA digital camera with low-light capabilities, 4x digital zoom, and a camcorder function. The SMT 5600 runs on the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for Smartphone operating system and is the first Windows Smartphone to include Windows Media Player 10 Mobile. That application enables the seamless transfer of media from a PC running Windows XP to the phone. Rogers also bundles its new MyMail wireless e-mail service, launching in April, with the SMT 5600. The service is for customers who subscribe to any of Rogers' Data Service Plan. With MyMail, individuals get wireless real-time, non-browser based, and fully synchronized "push" e-mail, calendar, and contacts. Push means data can automatically synchronizes between handset and desktop or server without user intervention. A behind the firewall, server-based edition of MyMail will be available for enterprises. Rogers sells the SMT 5600 for $300 (Canadian) after rebates with a three-year voice and a data service contract. Related Links:
