MessageVine Becomes Symbian Partner

By James Alan Miller
June 20, 2005

Smartphone platform provider Symbian has accepted mobile Instant messaging (IM) vendor MessageVine into its Platinum Partner program. Symbian's eponymous operating system (OS) is far and away the most popular in the world.

MessageVine says its delivers always-on, secure real-time IM for a number of platforms, including Windows Mobile, RIM BlackBerry, Palm OS, J2ME, BREW devices, and Symbian (of course). Its client connects consumers and business users to public IM networks like MSN, AIM, Yahoo! and ICQ, and enterprise IM systems such as Microsoft Office Live Communication Server, IBM Sametime, and Jabber.

It appears MessageVine would like to leverage Platinum Partner status to further extend its mobile IM solution into the wireless market. Benefits of joining the program include direct technical support, joint marketing opportunities, and access to Symbian OS source code.

The company's CEO Tomer Hertz says, "By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can further expand our Mobile IM and Presence solution and strengthen our relationships with mobile users, application developers, smartphone manufacturers and carriers."
