New iPAQ Memory Upgrades Available

You can never have too much memory in a PDA or smartphone. So while it may be some time before you can upgrade the operating system for your Hewlett-Packard handheld (depending on which iPAQ you own), Pocket PC Techs is making sure doubling the amount of memory in many iPAQ models is an option right now.

Most recently, the company added the new iPAQ hw6500 smartphone series and iPAQ hx2400 PDA models to the list of HP products supported for memory expansion. With these devices, Pocket PC Tech's service doubles the amount of RAM from 64 MB to 128 MB.

For $169 (including second-day return in the United States), Pocket PC Techs will remove the 64 MB chip from your device and replace it with a 128 MB chip. The process leaves 122 MB available to the hw6500 user and 123 MB ready for hw6500 owners.

Both HP models use low voltage hi-speed BGA memory, so stacking is not available and 128MB will (most likely) be the maximum capacity ever offered as an upgrade option.

Keep in mind, the upgrade negates your HP warranty. Pocket PC Techs does supply a 90-day warranty for the upgrade and the handheld's motherboard, however.
