PhoneFusion Bringing iPhone-Like Visual Voicemail to T-Mobile G1

It looks like T-Mobile G1 owners will soon get a little visual voicemail love, courtesy of PhoneFusion.

The company plans to roll out its Fusion Voicemail Plus application for the first Google Android-run smartphone through the Android Market before the end of the year. PhoneFusion previewed the software, which is already available for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartpones, at the Under the Radar: Mobility event the other day.

Visual Voicemail is, perhaps, the most used and taken-for-granted feature of the iPhone. Hyped a lot early, the Visual Voicemail hasn't been promoted all that much since—although most iPhone users would be loathe to go back to accessing voice messages the way the did before.

"Our Fusion Voicemail Plus application is tremendously popular with our existing customers who wanted iPhone-type functionality on their favorite devices," said PhoneFusion Louis Libin in a statement. And since Google, HTC and T-Mobile didn't provide a visual voicemail service with the G1, PhoneFusion is stepping in to fill the gap, "giving the Android community a better way to stay connected when it matters most," he added.

As with Visual Voicemail on the iPhone, Fusion VoiceMail Plus, which will be free, provides a faster, more efficient way to listen to voicemail messages, which are listed on their smartphone's display, in the order people want, rather than dialing multiple voicemail systems and listening to the messages in chronological order.
