A few months ago, Toshiba took the wraps off, the TG01, a powerful Windows Mobile 6.1 handset with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset—the most powerful every found in this type of device. This smartphone is now starting to ship in some Asian and European markets, including from DocCoMo in Japan and Movistar in Europe.

In addition to its standout CPU, the T-G01 sports a touch-screen stripe-column interface that folds around like a paper folding fan. And, to answer or end your call, just give the phone a little shake.

Here are some additional specifications of the TG01:

  • A very large 4.1-inch, 800 x 480 pixel (WVGA) resolution touch display
  • 3G and 3.5G HSDPA, HSUPA cellular-wireless data technology
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • 256MB of RAM
  • 512MB of ROM
  • microSD slot for up to 32GB of storage per card
  • Windows Mobile 6.1 with Tosh 3D GUI on top
  • ultra-thin at only 9.9 millimeters
  • camera of unknown megapixels
  • accelerometer

There's been no word on when or if this smartphone will make it to the U.S.
