    Description:
Taiwan-based MiTAC Mio 8380 smartphone, which is built on Microsoft's Smart Phone 2002 platform, became the third manufacturer after HTC and Samsung to create a phone based on this operating system back in beginning of 2003.

The Mio 8380 combines a tri-band GPRS mobile phone (GPRS Class 10-compliant) that supports 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz cellular networks for use all over the world. It also provides standard text-based messaging and MMS multimedia messaging, and wireless access to e-mail and the Web.

The Mio 8380 incorporates a 110,000 pixel camera with digital zoom and a 2.2-inch TFT color transflective LCD that supports 220x176 pixels. Its MPEG-4 encoder/decoder allows it to handle digital video, and it also includes a built-in media/MP3 player.

Personal information management software is similar to those in Pocket PC devices, giving users the ability to manage schedules, contacts, and text notes, while an integrated voice recorder allows users to record voice memos and other audio.

This smartphone has an SD card slot for memory expansion and a joystick for input rather than a touchscreen. The Mio's 1050 mAh rechargeable lithium polymer battery provides up to 3 hours of talk and up to 100 hours of standby time. MiTAC hasn't released a price for the Mio 8380 or information on when and where it would be made available.
